If you are looking to purchase Miele's lightest model that can handle wall to wall carpets, area rugs and bare/hard floors. That is regardless of whether you have pets or not. However, two features make this model especially suitable for pet owners. The included upgraded Charcol filter helps eliminate odours caused by pet hair and pet dander. Second and more importantly, what makes this a "Cat & Dog" model is the SEB217-3 Electric powerhead, a motorized carpet tool. This Electric Powerhead does an excellent job removing pet hair and dander on low to medium pile carpets and rugs. You can use the same powerhead on bare/hard floors by simply turning off the brush roll. That is an excellent feature for people who prefer to use the same floor tool on multiple surfaces. However, if you prefer, this model does get a separate tool for bare floors. This tool is a joy to use on floors such as hardwood, ceramic, laminate and tiles. SEB217-3 ELECTRIC POWER HEAD

Miele SEB 217-3 is a light-weight motorized powerhead perfect for low to medium pile carpets and area rugs. This carpet tool is equipped with an electronically-run brush roll. The brush roll agitates the piles of carpets and rugs and removes dirt, human hair, pet hair, and pet dander from deep within your carpets and Area rug pile. The SEB217-3 is Miele's lightest powerhead, and it moves and maneuvers easily around obstacles. Suppose you don't feel like changing attachments from carpets/rugs to hard floors. In that case, you can turn off the roller brush using the switch on the handle and use this tool on your bare/hard floors.
